# Cline (/docs/guides/cline)

Use cheapaimodel as the model provider in the Cline VS Code extension.



## Set it up [#set-it-up]

1. Open the Cline panel in VS Code and select the settings icon.
2. Set **API Provider** to **OpenAI Compatible**.
3. Set **Base URL** to `https://api.cheapaimodel.ai/v1`.
4. Paste your cheapaimodel key into **API Key**.
5. Enter a **Model ID** from the [catalog](/models), for example `glm-5.3`.
6. Save and start a task.

Cline sends long contexts on every step. A [key budget](/docs/concepts/authentication#key-options) keeps a runaway task from draining your balance.
