# Cursor (/docs/guides/cursor)

Use your cheapaimodel key for chat models in Cursor.



Cursor lets you bring your own OpenAI-compatible key and base URL.

## Set it up [#set-it-up]

1. Open **Cursor Settings → Models**.
2. Under **API Keys**, enter your cheapaimodel key in **OpenAI API Key**.
3. Turn on **Override OpenAI Base URL** and enter `https://api.cheapaimodel.ai/v1`.
4. Select **Verify**.
5. Add the model IDs you want from the [catalog](/models) with **Add model**, and pick one in the chat model selector.

  Cursor decides which features use your own key. Some built-in features, such as Tab completion, always run on Cursor's own models and are not billed to your cheapaimodel balance.
